The Cable Guy gets a 30th anniversary steelbook on 4K Ultra HD, and Jim Carrey’s turn as Chip Douglas remains the reason to own it. Chip is a cable installer raised on sitcom reruns, convinced real life should play out like the shows he grew up on.
When he latches onto customer Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick), his version of friendship spirals into stalking, a brutal joust, and a game that Steven never signed up for. Ben Stiller directs, and the film’s dark comic edge lands harder now than it did on release, when audiences expected another goofy Carrey vehicle.
